In the Shadow of the Tyrant
A small region close to the Tausend Mirrorlands, consisting of a narrow belt of lush wetland. Though almost completely pristine, Hustler’s Fen is not well-suited to humanoid inhabitation, and so it is scarcely-populated, though the fen itself is rich with magical creatures, fey and other fauna. It is said that the fen is home to some of the largest amphibians in Freystadt; rich gourmands often send mercenaries into the fen to hunt down its giant frogs, eager to consume their oversized legs. Hustler’s Fen is also known to have a small amount of mindless undead, though not nearly to the extent seen in the Blightmoor.
The name “Hustler’s Fen” comes from the enormous, luminous crystals that grow from the ground at the heart of the fen, around Pixie’s Tower. The origin of these crystals, and the means by which they perpetually glow, is unknown. However, after their discovery, the crystals became an immensely popular building material for luxury furniture, selling at absurdly high prices, before it was eventually discovered that when the crystals are worked in any fashion, it’s particulates become airborne and are extremely carcinogenic. Nowadays, the only people who try to sell crafts made from fen crystals are hustlers.
Though the fen would seemingly be an ideal habitat for rehabilitated Sidhe, none have been known to reside there for long.
